Our Philosophy
At Chapman, Roper and Breslin, LLC we address everything we do by considering how we would want to be treated by the very best of professional advisors. We manage each portfolio with the care and prudence we use in managing our own family and personal investments. Emphasis on Low CostWe understand how fees can significantly dilute returns over the years. Since our clients tend to stay with us for life, we take this concept very seriously. From providing low investment management fees, to minimizing overall transaction costs and fund expenses, we strive to deliver a competitively priced solution to our client’s investment needs. Focus on After-Tax ReturnAn integral part of our management philosophy is focusing on our client’s after-tax returns. In addition to keeping expenses as low as possible, our passion to learn the most up-to-date financial trends and techniques are employed to obtain the highest after tax returns. Low portfolio turnover, Net Unrealized Appreciation (NUA), Stretch IRA’s, minimal capital gains realization, and the concerted use of taxable and tax deferred accounts are examples of how we seek this aim. When appropriate, our client’s tax professional is consulted to assist in managing specific tax issues. DiversificationWe believe that broadly diversified portfolios based on Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT) and (post- MPT) provide a rational means of achieving desired returns commensurate with our client’s pre-defined risk levels. Investment Policy StatementEach client is presented with an Investment Policy Statement outlining the responsibilities, terms and conditions to which we will carry out our long-term relationship. We believe that a written policy along with the appropriate amount of communication enhances the investment performance and the relationship between the client and advisor. Accurate and Timely ReportingIn addition to managing our client’s investment assets, we provide our clients with accurate information specific to their situation in a timely manner. This information includes account reporting, tax information, cash flow summaries, capital gain and loss reports, and other data that the client may require. At the client’s request, information is also provided to one’s tax professional or trust attorney. Long-Term Investment HorizonWe believe that investment success is measured in years, not months
or days. We avoid market timing and the requisite high costs to employ
such a strategy. This is in accordance with our goal of providing
low cost services with a focus on after-tax returns.
